Unlike traditional ways of teaching, where the emphasis is more on swimming length after length as quickly as possible, our Alexander Technique based approach is unique with its emphasis on symmetry and the quality of experience.
We have re-crafted the four traditional strokes of Breaststroke, Butterfly, Front and Back Crawl, to promote the best possible body alignment with minimum strain on the joints. Distinctive features of our teaching include:
• Unique series of progressive practices.
• Clear teacher demonstrations.
• Dry land practices reinforce new patterns of movement.
• Lessons conducted either individually or in small groups.
• Detailed feedback with option of digital imaging.
• Guidance and direction is given with the teacher working alongside the pupil.
“There is a yawning gap between conventional swimming instruction and the deep understanding of human interaction with water practised by Steven Shaw and his colleagues.” Vivienne Parry, Journalist, 1997
